There are a number of tools and supplies that will make Scrapbooking easier and help to add a touch of class and elegance to your pages. The following is a small sample of the many tools available but will help you to understand their application when making your purchases.
PAPER TRIMMERS are essential for cropping photos and making mats for your photographs and are quicker and easier than using a craft knife and metal ruler.
CUTTING SYSTEMS include such shapes as oval, circle, heart and stars, to name but a few. Again, these are much simpler to use than a craft knife or scissors as they allow you to cut perfect shapes each time. These can be used to cut photos or paper and card.
DECORATIVE SCISSORS allow you to add fancy finishes to your mats, borders, frames and shapes.
PUNCHES come in many shapes and sizes including corner rounder, fancy corners, stars, hearts, spirals, etc. These are a great way to add enhancements to a page.
METAL RULERS are handy for using with a craft knife. If you haven’t yet invested in a paper trimmer, a metal ruler and craft knife may be the answer. The metal ruler will give you a firmer edge to use with a craft knife and won’t become damaged by the blade.
TEMPLATES & STENCILS come in a huge array of shapes and designs. They are great for lettering, creating shapes for your photos, or to help add colour and dimension to your pages. There are also a huge array of journaling templates and a vanishing ink pen available to help with keeping lines straight when journaling.
DIE CUTS are pre-cut shapes that you can add to your page.
STICKERS come in many different forms, shapes and sizes and are a great way to add instant colour to your page.
ADHESIVES should always be acid free. There are many different adhesives on the market and you will find some work better for one application and others for a different application. You may find a variety of adhesives is the answer for example photo mounts or a tape runner for photos, glue sticks for sticking mats and larger objects onto your page, and a glue pen to do the smaller items such as lettering, applying glitter or foils.
PENS come in a variety of styles. Remember to look for pens that are labeled as permanent and acid free as many inks will fade over time.
